The 22.5W Fast Charging Power Bank Module is a highly popular, highly integrated circuit board used by DIY enthusiasts to build custom portable power banks. Most of these modules are driven by the reliable SW6206 or SW6208 main control chips, enabling intelligent power delivery across multiple devices.
Key Specs & Port Layout
- Max Output Power: 22.5W (reaches up to 95–96% efficiency via synchronous boost).
- 5-Port Configuration: Typically includes 2x USB-A (Output), 1x USB-C (Bidirectional Input/Output), 1x Micro-USB (Input), and 1x Lightning (Input).
- Charging Protocols: Supports almost all modern fast-charging standards including PD3.0/2.0, QC4+/4/3.0/2.0, PPS, Huawei SCP/FCP, Samsung AFC, and VOOC.
- Visual Interface: Available in options with a built-in LCD/TFT digital percentage display or standard LED status indicators.
Battery Compatibility & Wiring Rules
- Supported Batteries: Works with 3.7V Lithium-ion (18650 cells) or Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) batteries connected in parallel. Never connect batteries in series, as higher voltages will immediately burn out the chip.
- Voltage Options: Standard default is set for 4.2V cells. Advanced users can configure the onboard resistor (R9) to support 4.35V, 4.4V, or 4.5V high-voltage lithium cells.
- Capacity Limit: It is safest to use total battery capacities between 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh. Going over 20,000mAh can cause the module to overheat due to excessively long charge times.
- Crucial Connection Rule: When soldering your battery bank to the B+ (Positive) and B- (Negative) terminals, you must use thick, short wires. Thin wires create high resistance, causing severe voltage drops and erratic fast-charging behavior.
Built-in Protection Features
To ensure user safety, these boards feature comprehensive protection logic:
- Input & Output Guarding: Includes over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit protection.
- Thermal Management: Most modules come with an attached NTC temperature sensor (thermistor). You should tape this sensor directly onto your battery pack so the module can automatically cut off power if the batteries overheat.
